The ones ‘left behind’ are enjoying the rare treat of almost-empty roads over the traditional Thai New Year, giving them ample opportunity to drive around at their leisure and explore new destinations.

There are visibly fewer vehicles and pedestrians on Bangkok’s main thoroughfares, including the section of Rajapreuk Road from Bangwa to Sathorn, Phetchaburi Road near the usually-gridlocked Pratunam Intersection and even the usually worst-jammed intersection at Lat Phrao.
