Police forced their way into the room about 3pm on Friday.
David Alexander Denoon Maclean, 51, who has been living in the room on the ninth floor of a condominium, hasn’t paid his rent for more than three months.
His rental contract had been cancelled and the water and electricity had been shut off.
On Friday, police and immigration officials distracted the man by talking to him through the front door of the apartment while officers entered through the window from a cherry-picker crane.

Authorities say he was weak and emaciated and he was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital.
Maclean had locked himself in the room on January 14 citing a dispute with the landlord over receipts for his rent.
He is facing charges of overstaying his visa.
