EEC committee aims to improve quality of life in EEC

The main plan aims to raise within three years the income of 240,000 people who earn less than Bt30,000 per year.
The committee will cooperate with the Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Ministry to conduct a survey of poor households to develop appropriate measures to tackle the problem.
Also, the committee plans to develop tourism in the communities in three years, with infrastructure and connections between secondary cities.
The whole project is expected to generate income of Bt120 billion per year for the communities.
The committee will propose to the government measures to promote tourism in secondary cities, such as enabling tourists to deduct personal expenses and launching tourism projects specific to each community.
For small and medium-sized enterprises, the committee will cooperate with the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand to link the SMEs to world markets by helping these enterprises become suppliers or contractors for investors in target industries.
In addition, the committee aims to develop more than 465,000 employees to support the EEC in five years by developing 120 urgent courses to provide 20,000 people with new skills in one year. This is expected to help increase household incomes.
The government and private sectors will invest more than Bt13 billion in 14 urgent projects such as garbage disposal centres, wastewater treatment systems, and six waste-to-electricity plants, which will solve environmental problems.
These projects aim to raise income for residents in the EEC, as well as improve the quality of life and environment there, which will be used as a model to develop other areas nationwide.
