South Korea to assist Thailand on returning illegal labourers

Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai has received an assurance from his South Korean counterpart Kang Kyung-wha that the two sides will collaborate on three measures pertaining to the return of illegal Thai labourers, government spokeswoman Narumon Pinyosinwat said today (March 6).

“The measures include a 14-day quarantine period for the labourers before they return to Thailand and stricter screening at the airports for those who travel to Thailand,” she said.
Don also asked Kang to provide information on Thai workers registered with the Korean Immigrant Bureau.
“The last measure is for the convenience of workers returning to their hometown,” Narumon said.
“The Korean government has assured us that it will take good care of Thais in South Korea, and will send them for medical treatment in case of any sickness,” she added.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has called on relevant agencies to prepare to receive the workers returning from South Korea.
