Retailers sure of ready supply of all goods

The Thai Retailers Association says 24,500 stores and malls across the country have confirmed they’re in no danger of running out of any commodities despite some customer hoarding of food and other essentials being observed due to the Covid-19 scare.

Association adviser Chatchai Tuangratanaphan said on Friday (March 20) he had coordinated with manufacturers to speed the transport of sufficient goods to meet demand.
“Customers needn’t fear or be concerned that they won’t be able to buy what they want,” he said. “Any store shelves emptied because of panic buying will be refilled the next day.”
Chatchai said the current situation is unlike that of late 2011, when shelves stayed empty because the massive flooding was blocking off factories, distribution centres and roads.
“The factories are now producing goods at fully 70 per cent of their capacity, there’s always enough in stock to last 15 or 30 days and all the roads are open.”
Among retailers assured of constant supply are 7-Eleven, Tesco Lotus, Big C, Macro, the Mall, Tops, Robinson’s, CP Fresh Mart, Foodland and Home Pro.
