Chiang Mai team detailing impact of shutdown on entrepreneurs

A team tasked with estimating the impact of Covid-19 prevention measures on entrepreneurs throughout the province held a meeting with Chiang Mai deputy governor Wirun Phandevi on Wednesday (March 25).

On March 18, the governor of Chiang Mai ordered the closure of high-risk places, such as entertainment venues, massage parlours and spas, karaoke bars and fitness clubs.
“These measures have had an impact on local entrepreneurs, and the government needs to find a solution for them,” the deputy governor added.
The team was set up to deal with this matter.
The government had previously ordered relevant officials to visit the closed establishments to survey their losses, in revenue and employees, and other problems.
The damage was mostly in the tourism sector, and those entrepreneurs require help in numerous areas such as face masks and sanitisers, loan, and suspension of payments.
“We will detail their problems and requirements within 2-3 days, and send them to the government for solution,” he said.
