Real-estate magnate Anant Kanjanapas dies aged 80

Anant Kanjanapas, chairman and CEO of Bangkok Land Public Co Ltd, the creator of IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, died on Monday (April 13) of natural causes. He was 80 and is survived by his sons Peter and Paul.
The family has said the property magnate’s funeral will be scheduled once the Covid-19 crisis is over.
Anant, born in Thailand on June 2, 1941, was the second child of Mongkol Kanjanapas. He completed his bachelor’s in Business Administration in Switzerland and later married Sophie, with whom had two sons, Peter and Paul.

Peter currently holds the post of vice chairman and executive director of Bangkok Land, while Paul is the managing director of IMPACT Exhibition Management Co Ltd.
Anant rose in the ranks after he worked hard to help his company survive the 1997 Tom Yum Kung crisis, and made his firm financially liquid and completely debt free by 2012. He and his two sons also worked together to build IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, which is the biggest exhibition and convention complex in Thailand and considered one of the largest in Southeast Asia.

He also had IMPACT Exhibition Management Co Ltd listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand and initiated the Real Estate Investment Trust in Thailand in 2013.
Anant was admired by his staff and remembered for his nice and generous personality.
