The department revealed that passengers on the public transport service increased from 189,000 on May 1 to 400,000 on May 4.
Expecting to see more travellers return as the capital gradually emerges from lockdown, the department has asked passengers to keep their guard up against Covid-19 during train rides.
Passengers are requested to look after their health, wear face masks, leave their homes earlier and follow social distancing measures in stations and on trains.
