Redemption song? Silenced musicians handed new hope by govt

The government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) will hold talks with pub, bar, and karaoke operators on Sunday (June 21), after musicians pleaded for permission to return to work.

Musicians submitted their plea to the prime minister on Thursday, asking for debt relief and permission to return to work within seven days.
Deputy Army chief Gen Nattapol Nakphanit, a member of the committee on lockdown easing, is negotiating with singers and musicians about ways to contain the spread of Covid-19, said CCSA spokesman Taweesin Visanuyothin.
"We will hold a meeting with operators of pubs, bars and karaoke joints on June 21," said Taweesin. "People infected by Covid-19 at entertainment venues were customers, not singers and musicians."
He added that Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, as director of the CCSA, is concerned about every profession.
