Despite Thailand keeping its skies closed to international flights, Hat Yai Airport has still been busy with local travellers, airport director Jitmate Komolvanich said on Wednesday (July 29).

The director said passengers flying in and out of the airport stood at about 50 to 60 per cent, and flights at 70 per cent compared to the time before Covid-19 hit Thailand.
The director also said that most people were only travelling out of necessity, such as business, education or family.
An average of about 5,000 passengers use the airport compared to 10,000 previously.
