A moderate southwest monsoon lies across the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand while the low-pressure cell covers upper Vietnam, the department said.
The department also said the category 3 tropical storm “Mekkhala” over the upper South China Sea is developing into a category 4 severe tropical storm. It is expected to make landfall in China today and dissipate over the land with no effect on Thailand.
