Upper Thailand gets warmer by 1-3°C, while monsoon weakens in South

The weakening high-pressure system over upper Thailand would push temperatures up by 1-3 degrees Celsius, but the overall weather would remain cool to cold with morning fog, the Thailand Meteorological Department forecast on Friday.

Mountaintops remain cold to very cold.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon prevailing across the Gulf of Thailand and the South is also weakening. Waves in the lower Gulf are about two metres high. All ships should proceed with caution, the department said.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours:

North: Cool to cold weather with morning fog; minimum temperature 12-17 degrees Celsius, maximum 26-32°C; temperature on hilltops is likely to drop to 5-12°C.

Northeast: Cold weather with morning fog; minimum temperature 10-15°C, maximum 28-31°C; temperature on hilltops is likely to drop to 6-13°C.

East: Cool weather with morning fog; minimum temperature 17-21 degrees, maximum 29-33°C; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres offshore.
