Deputy governor of Covid-19 hotspot Samut Sakhon first to be vaccinated in province

The deputy governor of Samut Sakhon, Thiraphat Khashmat, was the first recipient of the first dose of Sinovac's Covid-19 vaccine in the province.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health Anutin Charnvirakul observed the vaccination.

Anutin Charnvirakul on Sunday went to observe vaccination for Samut Sakhon provincial executive after his vaccine injection in the morning.

Samut Sakhon Governor Verasak Vichitsangsri, who was severely infected by the virus, is now undergoing physical therapy after being treated for pneumonia.

Samut Sakhon got its first lot of 20,040 doses of Sinovac vaccine on Saturday. The vaccination on Sunday will be provided to provicial leaders, the dean of Samut Sakhon Hospital, and 159 people in the risk group.

Health officers, health village volunteers, officers who are at risk of contact with patients will be inoculated on March 1. Meanwhile, vaccination of the general public is expected to start in May.

Samut Sakhon on Sunday saw 49 new cases, bringing the total number in the new outbreak to 16,198. Of this number, 16,060 have been discharged, 291 are being treated in hospitals or quarantine areas, and seven people have died.
