Hot to very hot day in upper Thailand with isolated thundershowers


The Thailand Meteorological Department said on Saturday that a heat low covered upper Thailand, and forecast a hot to very hot day with haze.

The westerly trough has moved to cover the North and the upper Northeast, while the southerly and southeasterly winds bring humidity from the Gulf and the South China Sea to cover the Northeast, the Central and the East regions, resulting in isolated thundershowers with gusty winds in the areas.

The department added that the easterly winds prevailing over the Gulf and the South, would bring isolated thundershowers to the lower South.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours:

North: Hot to very hot day with haze, thundershowers and gusty winds in 20 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 20-27 degrees Celsius, highs of 37-41°C.

Northeast: Hot day with haze, thundershowers and gusty winds in 10 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 23-26°C, highs of 36-38°C.

Central: Hot to very hot day with haze and thundershowers in 10 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 24-27°C, highs of 37-40°C.

East: Hot day with haze and thundershowers in 10 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 25-27°C, highs of 34-38°C; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.

South (east coast): Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 23-26°C, highs of 32-34°C; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.

South (west coast): Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 23-26°C, highs of 34-36°C; waves less than a metre high and a metre high during thundershowers.

Bangkok and surrounding areas: Hot day with haze; temperature lows of 26-27°C, highs of 35-38°C.
