Thundershowers forecast for all regions; gusty winds, isolated heavy rains in some areas


The Thailand Meteorological Department said on Tuesday that a moderate high-pressure system covers upper Thailand and the South China Sea.

The westerly trough covers the North while the southerly and southeasterly winds bring moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand to the lower North, the Northeast, the Central including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the East regions.

Thundershowers with gusty winds and isolated heavy rains are forecast in some parts of upper Thailand.

The department added that southwesterly and southeasterly winds bring isolated thundershowers to the South.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours:

North: Thundershowers in 60 per cent of the areas, isolated heavy rain and gusty winds are possible in some areas; temperature lows of 21-23 degrees Celsius, highs of 24-32°C.

Northeast: Thundershowers in 10 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 21-25°C, highs of 31-37°C.

Central: Thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas, gusty winds are possible in some areas; temperature lows of 22-24°C, highs of 30-33°C.

East: Thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 24-25°C, highs of 30-35°C; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.

South (east coast): Thundershowers in 60 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 23-26°C, highs of 29-34°C; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.

South (west coast): Thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 22-26°C, highs of 33-36°C; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.

Bangkok and surrounding areas: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 24-25°C, highs of 30-32°C.
