1,543 new cases logged in, 409 in Bangkok

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) on Thursday reported 1,543 new cases, with only three from overseas.

 

The new confirmed cases were found in 62 provinces, with the highest number in Bangkok at 409, followed by 278 in Chiang Mai and 98 each in Chonburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan.

 

Over the past 24 hours, 61 patients had recovered and were discharged.

 

As of Thursday, the number of confirmed cases in Thailand had risen to 37,453. Of them, 34,229 were contracted locally, including 19,095 who were found via proactive testing, while 3,224 were returnees. So far, 28,383 have recovered and been discharged, 8,973 patients are still in hospitals, and 97 have died.

 

According to Worldometer, as of 11am on Thursday, the number of confirmed cases globally had risen to 138.85 million (up by 803,194) – 111.83 million have recovered, 24.23 million are active cases (106,506 in severe condition) and 2.98 million have died (up by 13,513).

 

Thailand ranks 111th on the global list of most cases, which is topped by the US with 32.14 million, followed by India 14.07 million, Brazil 13.67 million, France 5.14 million and Russia 4.66 million.

 

Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, 1,618 people were given their first shot of the Covid-19 vaccine and 388 their second shot, bringing the total number of Covid vaccines administered in Thailand to 581,311.
