UNWTO SG meets President U Thein Sein

Secretary-General Dr. Taleb Rifai of UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) arrived in Yangon on 6 May for two days and held discussions with President U Thein Sein.
“My visit to Myanmar was very beneficial. This morning I met President U Thein Sein and the Union Minister for Tourism last night. A series of discussions took place between us,” said Dr. Taleb Rifai at the press meeting with local and foreign journalists on 7 May evening.
“The President is paying special attention on the development and prospects of tourism industry,” continued Dr. Taleb Rifai.
Myanmar became a member country of UNWTO in 1996 and withdrew from the membership of UNWTO in 1998.
