The centre was jointly established by Myanmar’s Ministry of Commerce, the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI), and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
“The Myanmar-Japan Centre will first and foremost give financial-management training courses for staff and officials in the industrial and economic sectors. Japanese scholars are to conduct them. This centre will give assistance mostly to small and medium-sized enterprises that need know-how in human resources,” said the centre’s director, Dr Myo Thet.
The establishment of this centre was one of the items agreed in a memorandum of understanding signed between UMFCCI and Keidanren, a Tokyo-based Japanese business federation. They signed the agreement on February 7.
