Marubeni eyes Yangon

Japan's Marubeni Corp plans to expand business in Myanmar including construction of a chemical fertiliser factory, sources say.

At a meeting with Win Tun, Minister for Environmental Conservation and Forestry, a team from Marubeni discussed the investment law, rules and regulations, and construction of the factory.
Established in 1858, Marubeni Corp has more than 100 branches and representative offices in 65 countries.
Japan will invest a 49-per-cent share in the Thilawa Special Economic Zone and spend more than US$380 million of ODA loans from the Japan International Corporation Agency (Jica). Jica is now cooperating with the Construction Ministry on the Yangon-Thilawa bridge.
