Mobile phone penetration rate expected to reach 80%

The number of mobile phone users in Myanmar is expected to reach up to 80 per cent of the country's population during fiscal year 2015-16, the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology said.
The number of Internet users in the country is also expected to reach 50 per cent by the same year, it said.
Myanmar Post and Telecommunications (MPT) said it would sell a total of 14 million mobile phones by the year 2015-16. MPT said it would sell four million in the year 2013-14, and five million each in the years 2014-15 and 2015-16.
