Tran Van Thong, Vietnamese Embassy spokesman in Phnom Penh, claimed recently that Kampuchea Krom in the southern part of Vietnam belonged to Vietnam for a long time even before it was a French colony.
“We will hold a protest sometime between July 10 and July 20 in front of the Vietnamese Embassy to demand that the Vietnamese government apologise and recognise the truth of Khmer history if it doesn’t make an apology or show clear documents,” association president Thach Sitha said yesterday.
He said the association will hold a public forum on July 6 to listen to the opinions of citizens and collect existing documents to prove that Kampuchea Krom is part of Cambodia.
