The proposal stated that the Parliament supported the signing of final draft of the ceasefire between the Union Peacemaking Working Committee and Nationwide Ceasefire Coordination Team.
It also stated that the army urged Parliament to record the people and organisations which participated in the ceasefire deal.
Tint Hsan said the efforts were valuable to forge ethnic solidarity and showing that peace was the public’s desire. Therefore, the public supported those who participated in the peace process, he said.
“We are all walking down the path to multiparty democracy under a administration that is elected by the public. In a democracy, peace and tranquillity are vital. We have experienced that socioeconomic development cannot be achieved with violence and armed conflict. Therefore, the army is now implementing peace, solidarity and development by laying down the national policy,” Tint Hsan added.
He said that only when peace was ensured would national solidarity, reconsolidation and state building succeed. The proposal urged the entire nation to participate in the peace process.
All representatives approved the army’s proposal.
