Instability may delay polling date: USDP

Calling for a fair election, Htay Oo, vice-chairman of the ruling Union Solidarity and Development Association (USDA), said if there are people creating instability in the country, like the 1988 disturbances, the election might be postponed.

He was replying to a query posed by journalists whether the election will be postponed if the country is in chaos.
“What do you mean by “instability”, war or boycotts? We have to prevent these kinds of instability. As a party, we will work to build trust. We are not fighting with anyone,” said Htay Oo.
He added that he wants the 2015 election to be fair. The election campaign will be carried out three months ahead of the election.
