Language fluency begins at home

Re: "Encourage English as an everyday language", Letters, April 13.

I couldn’t agree more with Surapon Vatanavigkit that Thais are deprived of a chance to excel in English because they never have an opportunity to practice it on a daily basis.
In our family, we made it a point to speak English to my little grandson and now at the age of three,  he can communicate easily in that language.
I also advised my daughter, son-in-law, and even my wife, to add an English word a day to his vocabulary.
So far, the result is amazing! He can tell me in English if he wants candy, ice cream or toy por if he’s hungry, full or wants to poo-poo, pee-pee etc.
