One seat or two is not meaningless

Re: "No big deal for Pheu Thai", Letters, April 26.

As someone whose sister and brother-in-law live in Pathum Thani, I can testify on their behalf why they did not vote Pheu Thai in the by-election, even though they supported the Democratic Alliance Against Dictatorship all along (including camping out at Rajadamri during the “red” days). No, they are not unhappy with PM Yingluck’s plan to pay homage to General Prem; that means little to them. Rather, they just happened to be two of the hundreds of thousands of victims of the recent floods.
How arrogant of the letter-writer to think that a seat or two in Parliament is “meaningless”. If enough constituencies feel the same way about Pheu Thai (but not necessarily the DAAD), we can expect to see a different result in the next general election.
Lastly, my sister and brother-in-law would like to apologise for not having written or sent this letter themselves, for their English is quite poor (well, at least poorer than mine).
