Education policies misguided
I just heard that Pheu Thai Education Minister Worawat plans to spend 10 per cent (Bt6 billion) of the education budget on electronic game-playing gizmos.
Largely due to that, ongoing expenditure and prior government promises to help pay for school uniforms and books will be scrapped. While we don’t expect any Pheu Thai big shots to be in touch with, or even care about, what happens to Thais on the lower rungs of the social ladder, such draconian action will victimise poor students. Significant numbers of impoverished families and single parents simply won’t be able to afford to send their kids to school. Thanks for nothing, Mr “Thinking for PT and Thaksin” and your Pheu Thai millionaire buddies.
