Think of a day where you have a majority’s sexual preference forced upon you. It will be everywhere, on television, radio, billboards, advertising. Think of a day when you can’t be free to be yourself in public, at work, at home. Why? Because you live in fear of being assaulted, ostracised, thrown out of your home, or fired from work on some trumped up reasoning.
But you can’t can you, with your moral superiority and high ground? You are part of a majority, flawed as it may be. Don’t cry the sanctity of marriage, given the rates of divorce, multiple marriages, quickie USA style marriages, etc.
You comment of others sniggering at people in the GLBT community when they choose to parade. You fail to see the parade for what it is. It’s a protest, to give a message to bigots [deleted], saying we won’t go away. Its the GLBT people who have escaped the hetrosexualised for a moment to say, ‘I am me, and here I am, I don’t care about you and your small minded bigotry’. And yes, some are not so free and hide behind a mask of makeup,
but they are still giving you the finger.
Sure there are conservative gays in our community, trying to fit by mimicking heterosexual “norms”, but they are still in hiding or the minority who are uncomfortable in their own skin.
As for gay marriage, John, it’s a matter of time. The world is changing and it won’t stop for you. Day by day, people become more educated, more liberal. Many farang I have met in Thailand came here in search of subservience. Don’t recry it.. I have heard so many farang men tell me why they hate farang women/gays, that they wouldn’t kow-tow to guys like you.
If you think this is taking a grievance with you, yes it is. We GLBT people are standing up and being counted. Look around the world and see the change coming. A man is not an island unto himself John. The world is changing.
