The leading luxury brand celebrates its Tambour timepieces with a fundraising effort for the Chaipattana Foundation

Louis Vuitton is celebrating the tenth anniversary of its first timepiece collection – the “Tambour” – with an exhibition that aims to raise funds for His Majesty the King’s Chaipattana Foundation.
The “Face of Tambour” show, which is on show in front of Louis Vuitton’s store at Gaysorn shopping complex until Monday, presents the portraits of 10 iconic personalities from different professions. The participation fees of Pravit Maleenont, ML Chiratorn Chirapravati, Takonkiet Viravan, Polpat Asavaprapha, Apichet Raksriaksorn, Cory and Tipanan Srifuengfung, Marisa and Daranee Sukosol, and Vipavadee Patpongpibul are being donated to the Foundation.
Bold as a drum roll, the Tambour announced the arrival of Louis Vuitton to the world of watchmaking when it was launched back in 2002. Crafted in LV’s workshops at La Chaux-de-Fonds, the first model was the Tambour LV 277 Chronograph, a precise, elegant and sporty watch equipped with highly sophisticated automatic chronometer movement.
The Tambour LV Cup Regatta followed in 2004 and was the first watch to be directly inspired by the Louis Vuitton Cup, the legendary yachting competition.
In 2012, with the acquisition of the high watchmaking workshop La Fabrique du Temps and high-end dial maker Leman Cadran, the Tambour has come to symbolise identity, combining timeless looks with the highest technical standards and innovation. The latest model, Tambour Spin Time Regatta, references the movement of the 2010 Tambour Spin Time collection, in which each of the 12 hour positions is occupied by a cube that rotates to show either a neutral or numbered face. The Tambour Spin Time Regatta also features a red push button to activate the Regatta complication positioned at 8 o’clock.
Jean-Baptiste Debains, president of Louis Vuitton Asia Pacific, who was on hand to welcome VIP guests to the exhibition, says that over the last few years, Louis Vuitton Thailand has initiated several projects to raise funds for the benefit of the Chaipattana Foundation.
“This year, as we commemorate the tenth anniversary of our Tambour timepieces collection, it is an honour for us to use this auspicious occasion to support the foundation once again,” he says.
He also expresses his appreciation to the 10 personalities who accepted the invitation to celebrate alongside Louis Vuitton and who generously contributed their fees to this charitable event.
