A young designer launches her new |collection at Siam Paragon

Young designer Kingkan Slakonthanavat made a splash recently as she debuted her first Kingkan collection with a show at Lady Boutique in Siam Paragon.
“Dawn of the Inner Venom” is the name the new graduate of London’s Saint Martin’s College of Fashion, has chosen for the Autumn and Winter 2013 outfits.
Several of Kingkan’s friends and followers packed into the bou?tique, among them Wiritipa Pakdeeprasong, Phitsinee Tanwiboon, Marisa Anita, Piyawadee Maleenont, Krissie Krissiri, Mike Somkid, Petch and Ploy Rattanarat-Aurthaveekul, Phimmara Charoenpukdi, Saranrat Wisutthithada, Somprasong and Buachompoo Ford Sahawat, Yupaporn and Natthanan Sahawat, Kaisri Nuengsigkapian, Pichitra Boonyarataphan, Sunee Sereepanu, Jadesuda Bualert, Chatthip Chanloetfah and Jai Madonna.
Passionate about fashion from an early age and with her own business always at the back of her mind, Kingkan earned her Master’s degree in Creative Industry Management in Australia before signing up for a special course at Central Saint Martins. In 2012, she launched the clothing and accessories line Kiss De L’amour but has now opted to use her name for the brand’s edgy new incarnation.
Kingkan new collection is inspired by the spiritual properties of venom with clothes that are strong, beautiful and mysterious.
The designer says that she believes in the individuality and sophistication of women. “What makes a woman seductive is the personality underneath her public persona, the traits that are hidden, yet when revealed are strikingly stunning. Kingkan can be best described as a seductive minimal?ist with a mysterious yet rebellious soul.”
Black and white features heavi?ly in the collection, with distinc?tive details translated to the fabri?cation of the garments, creating unique prints. Each pattern of the fabric is totally different from the next and the garments are careful?ly sewn, accentuating the dis?guised details on each piece and allowing for the details to be seen from only certain perspectives.
The jewellery line also displays an interesting technique with resins compounded and shaped into one-of-a-kind pieces.
Kingkan’s collection makes a bold statement. “Fashion is much more than a trend,” she muses. “It’s a piece of art with its own blend of uniqueness and individuality.”
