The president is ultimately responsible for the actions of his government and its agencies. If one citizen can release this data to the world, another can get them for their own purposes. If the data are of no interest, why are they stored?
There is evidence that the information is manipulated to suit the needs of the presidential office, as exemplified by the GW Bush administration and Iraq’s alleged WMD. International financial data being collected will undoubtedly be used to the US’s advantage, which affects all citizens around the world, as exemplified by the recent tampering with the baht.
Britain is no better. A police officer confessed that he spied on the family and friends of a black man who died in police custody to find any “evidence” against them that could be used to silence their protests.
If a country has dirty methods and dirty secrets, they need to be exposed.
