The English Premier League champions are due to play an exhibition match at Rajamangala National Stadium on Saturday, the first of two glamour fixtures to mark the 80th anniversary of Singha’s Boon Rawd Brewery. Europa League winners Chelsea, the other English football club with whom the company has a sponsorship deal, will play four days later at the same venue.
A United squad led by new manager David Moyes, who succeeded fellow Scot Sir Alex Ferguson after his 26 trophy-filled years at Old Trafford, will arrive at Don Mueang airport on Thursday morning, then make a trip to sign a book of well-wishes for Their Majesties the King and Queen at Siriraj Hospital.
Thursday afternoon will see United players take part in a soccer clinic at the Singha Football Park in Muang Thong Thani, before former Everton boss Moyes oversees a private training session for his players at 4pm.
On their second day in the capital, the United players will be split into two groups, with one heading for a morning training session while the other participates in the “Manchester United Soccer School” event at Singha Football Park. They will round off the day with a training session open to the public at Rajamangala Stadium, followed by a pre-match conference.
Singha Corp plans to set up a fan zone offering a variety of activities for Red Devils fans at the venue from 3pm on Saturday, with the gates opening two hours later.
Singha Corp president Santi Bhirom Bhakdi will preside over the event before the game kicks off at 8pm. Straight after the match against a Singha All Stars team, the United players will leave for Australia.
