China tackles inflation

Re: "Sex and the single man", Features, August 29.

I was heartened to learn that China is now mass-producing life-sized inflatable plastic sex-dolls to relieve the stresses suffered by lonely Chinese men. When will this product be available in Thailand? At a mere Bt265 for the cheapest model, this is a real bargain. The benefits are too numerous to mention. It won’t nag, get pregnant, give you any diseases or always be asking for money, and is apparently infinitely reusable. The downside, of course, is that it won’t bring you a beer in the evening, wash your socks or keep the house clean. And it is bound to have a disastrous effect on Thailand’s robust sex industry. But, hey, there’s a fly in every ointment.
I applaud the Chinese for this courageous innovation, although I am sure it will draw the ire of feminists, and I hope that it will be available in Thailand soon.
