But after Friday’s fixture at Rajamangala National stadium, the Buriram quartet will return to the club to prepare for the League Cup final on November 23, meaning they will miss the Thai team’s penultimate group match away to second-placed Kuwait on Tuesday.
National coach Surachai Jaturapattarapong put a brave face on events, noting that he still has the quartet at his disposal for the Iran fixture where anything less than a win would eliminate the Thais in a group also featuring Lebanon.
“We can only use the four Buriram players for one game, but it’s a vital match and we need to play these players,” said Surachai, who took over in charge of the national team after German veteran Winfried Schaefer’s abrupt departure.
Former national player Surachai said he would call up two Muang Thong United players, Datsakorn Thonglao and Sarat Yueyen, for the Kuwait match.
