“I beg all of you to be careful and not buy tickets from other people because you risk paying too much or getting fake tickets,” Ted says in an appeal to the fans. There are scalpers hawking bogus passes and promising tickets they have no intention of delivering.
Chief sponsor Pepsi has a deal where you can buy five tickets and get one free, which lowers the Bt1,500 admission price to just Bt1,250, and Ted is spreading the word. “I don’t just understand why people are still buying tickets priced at Bt1,500 from some other website!” he says.
He’s frustrated because the passes are on sale at a fair price from ThaiTicketMajor.com and its store outlets as well as the GMM website. “Come on! If you guys still support ‘ghost’ tickets, how can we improve the festival? I don’t just understand it when you love going to the festival but don’t support the festival organiser!”
Ted says he just wants everyone to enjoy the music and have a good time, and he’s complaining only because he’s annoyed with the “unscrupulous businesspeople”.
Let’s give the guy a break and tell the wannabe middlemen to take a hike.
Dome’s steely love
It looks like Dome Pakorn Lum’s love life is on a rosy path. He’s currently dating Metal Sukkhawadee, a singer on his record label who happens to be the daughter of one of the old-time rockers, Chatchai “Rang” Sukkhawadee. (Hence her first name, presumably.)
But Dome’s got a reputation as a womaniser, so concerned reporters asked him if he isn’t worried about Metal bringing something metallic down on his head if he should, say, fool around behind her back.
“No, I’m not worried at all because she’s a grown-up and all I have to do is support her,” he replied. “Plus, I’m a man and I’ve already been through all that.” He sounds awfully confident – cocky, you might say – but maybe he should be because he’s got Metal’s old man on his side.
“I’m a man and I understand it well,” Rang says. “If he doesn’t have any girlfriend, then everyone thinks he’s gay. And he’s so handsome so you can’t blame him.”
Does that imply that Rang was a ladies man in his day too? “I wasn’t too different from Dome. And I think he’s the kind of man who will stop when he finds the right person.”
And, lo and behold, Dome’s even talking about tying the knot with Metal – well, in another three or four years. Rang says he won’t hold his breath. “I’m just pleased that at least she’s with someone in the same company and someone I know so I can follow them.”
He’s stalking the kids? “No, I just gave them some advice. They know that any pub or night-place they go to, I’ve been there and the people there know me, so I warned them not to do anything that crosses the line.”
