POPULAR JAPANESE restaurant AKA is turning seven and to celebrate, it’s inviting customers to enjoy a range of delicious meat and seafood sets at a generous discount of 50 per cent.
Its premises on the seventh floor of CentralWorld have also gone through a complete refurbishment, making it an attractive place to hang out with friends and family while tucking into favourite foods.
“Thais are growing increasingly fond of grilled meats and we’ve noticed that several restaurants are now offering yakiniku buffets. So as well as giving our outlet a new and relaxing ambience, we’ve introduced a new range of a la carte yakiniku along with sushi maki, teppanyaki and fusion food. These will all be added to the menus of our 13 other branches soon,” says brand manager Ekasak Bubphasuwan.
The renovations to the 166-seat restaurant have given it an edgy New York feel and a modern industrial decor that’s underlined by red brick on the walls and two large containers painted bright red. Look up and you’ll see that the ceiling boasts drawings of several cuts of beef, all the better to guide you towards what kinds of meat is best suited to your meal.
The beef is top quality too with the Thai-French Butchery providing the prime rib, porterhouse, T-bone, short loin, sirloin, chuck roast, brisket, arm roast and filet mignon.
We order the Special Beef Seafood Set (Bt565) that features sliced hiraniku, rousu, sirloin and karubi beef, New Zealand mussels, salmon, prawn and assorted vegetables and is served with either beef or pork bibimbab, wakame salad, cabbage kimchi and miso soup.
We also sample Mixed Sashimi of salmon and tuna (Bt280), Spicy Tuna Roll topped with spicy sauce and tuna with fried lotus roots (Bt220) and the interesting Duo Salmon Roll that’s filled with guava and cheese and topped with fried salmon and ebiko (Bt240).
Other highlights include Avocado Tofu Salad, Salmon Bibimbab Roll, Aburi Salmon Sushi and Ebi Calamari.
Dessert is particularly good and those wanting to cool down will love the two scoops of Chocolate Fudge Brownie served in a cold stone for Bt130 as well as the towering Ice Cream Cookies Tower for Bt150.
