The Education Ministry, in its intention to put democracy on the curriculum in schools, appears to have lost its way completely.
Despite the programme having been formulated by the Election Commission, both agencies seem to have missed their target by a mile.
How can our children be taught to wear safety helmets while riding motorcycles if we, the parents, never use them?
Democracy is a monkey-see-monkey-do business.
Teaching this programme in schools will be a waste of time, money and energy.
It’s better to abandon it rather than explore this dead end on our route to genuine democracy.
