Unbelievable. The state’s effort to increase the income of low-income farmers results in it helping with the production costs of rice farmers who have their own land, provided it is no bigger than 15 rai, by giving them Bt1,000 per rai. Meanwhile, landless poor farmers who rent land from landlords and constitute about 800,000 farming households are overlooked.
This could result in the landlords benefiting from receiving rental fees and the government’s handout.
If the government wanted to help landless farmers, handing out Bt1,000 per rai may not be sufficient to meet their production costs because they usually rent land for Bt1,000 per rai.
The government should keep an eye on the facts involving landless farmers. Please don’t aggravate the income gap again.
