The former teen star returns to the stage to mark a successful career that has spanned 25 years

Fans of singer Patiparn “Mos” Pataweekarn turned out en masse to Royal Paragon Hall last weekend to help the ’90s idol celebrate his 25 years in showbiz.
Organised by A-Time Showbiz, the “Patiparn Party 25 Years Mr Mos concert” brought together a host of special guests including the singer’s former collaborators Tata Young, Somchai “Tao” Khemklad, Sunisa “Aom” Sookboonsang, Songsit Roongnophakunsri and Saksit Thangthong. The show was also designed to do some good, with part of the proceeds from ticket sales set aside to support the Children Cancer Fund under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Somsavali.
The show marked the first time Mos had returned to the stage since releasing “Nine Mos” back in 2008. Now in his early 40s and a father, he has managed to retain his youthful looks and was greeted with screams by his legion of fans.
The concert started with a colourful party setting abroad a cruise liner with Mos and his team of sailors performing a medley of dance numbers that included “Salad Sabad”, “Chue Tue Krab”, “Hello” and “Duay Rak Lae Platoo”.
Mos greeted the crowd and encouraged them to sing and dance along with him as the night wore on before bringing the temperature down a notch with an array of hit ballads including “Ngai Kern Pai”, “Took Yoo Laew”, “Klab Klong”, “Plao” and “Mai Penrai Jing Jing”.
Mos devoted the sad songs “Sen Trong”, “Hed Phon Khue Rak Tue” and “Mai Wiset” to his late mother as well as his wife and young daughter, telling the audience that these are the three women he loves the most.
The next segment of the concert saw the stage converted into an old warehouse and Mos performing alongside his close friend, actor and singer Somchai “Tao” Khemklad. Pals since their student days, the duo performed “Roo Mai Wa Krai Yai”, “Krai Mai Kiew Kor Toy Pai”, “Puern Mai Ting Puern” and “Jai Nak Leng”.
Laughter rang out as Mos  teased his old friend about kissing Ben Chalatit who plays his boyfriend in GMM Grammy’s popular gay series “Secret of Mint and Mew”.
Mos challenged Tao to repeat the scene at the concert and Tao readily agreed, saying, “If Ben appears on the stage, I will kiss him,” thinking he was safe as Ben was performing upcountry that night. He turned out to be wrong, though, with Ben making a brief appearance to receive a smacker on the lips.
Sunisa “Aom” Sookboonsang was next up on stage and duetted with Mos on “Hua Jai Lad Fah”, “Manat Jang”, “Kue A-Rai” and “Rak Ther Samer”.
Bringing back memories of the singer’s early days, the last scene in “Sam Noom Sam Moom” then appeared on screen. In the 1992 series, Mos played the youngest brother, Peerapol, and applause rang out loud and clear when his older “siblings”, veteran actors Songsit “Kob” Roongnophakunsri and Saksit Thangthong, also his co-hosts in the 2007 variety show of the same name, came out to join him on stage.
The three performed several popular singles including the series’ soundtrack “Sam Noom Sam Moom”, “Rak Kue Fan Pai” and “Keed Sen Tai”.
Singer Tata Young, who recorded an album with Mos back in 1997 and also co-starred with him in the teenage film “Red Bike Story” appeared in a video thanking Mos for his friendship over the years before coming out on stage to duet with him on “Peechai Tee Saen Dee”, “Red Bike”, “Sak Ka Nit” and the eponymous hit “Malang”.
Four hours after it started, Mos brought the party to an end with a set of dance numbers that included “Pae Talod”, “Piluek Kuekkue”, “Leaw Lai”, “Toy Dee Gua”, “Ji Ja” and “Mai Rak Kor Ba Laew”.
