A lesson in diplomacy for Uncle Sam

Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has urged Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to return Thailand to civilian rule as soon as possible. Meanwhile America has sent arrogant, second-string diplomats to threaten sanctions and other penalties if democracy is not restored quickly. Both countries delivered the same message, but one did so in a crude manner while the other was respectful and culturally sensitive. 

“East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet,” Rudyard Kipling wrote. Stephff’s “Prayut goes to Japan” cartoon of February 10 says it all!
