The reality shows that he should never have been in control of any aircraft, let alone a commercial airliner carrying 150 people.
He may well have been an expert flyer and physically fit, but mentally he was clearly very unfit.
The ISIS executioner known as “Jihadi John” was bullied at school and said to have been a quiet, peaceful child. It is very likely that he bears a deep resentment over his treatment as a child. As a man, latent in his mind is the desperate need to retaliate, to “get his own back” on the society that caused his juvenile suffering.
Lubitz, perhaps suffering similarly, saw an opportunity to prove himself over some similar issue. Having perhaps harboured some grievance, he had something to prove. He did it by putting the plane into a fatal descent.
The mind controls everything a person does. Establishing mental health is of fundamental importance. Unfortunately it seems to be assumed that a person capable of qualifying for a responsible, skilled job is mentally sound. This tragedy in the Alps proves otherwise.
All those in positions of such responsibility should be subjected to professional cognitive therapy to establish their mental fitness. The dark side of their mind must be opened. What lies beneath must be revealed.
