Does toned-up Janie have the physique to endure the press?

Thailand's most updated English news website, newspaper english, breaking news : The Nation

Actress Janie Thienhosuvan took a little abuse for “showing off” (via a form-fitting costume) a bit more of her body than she’d intended while premiering her newfound acrobatic talents in Bangkok recently. But, after seeing her pictures on Instagram of her doing calisthenics at this week’s opening of Central Plaza Rayong, we have nothing but admiration.
As an A-list celebrity, Janie is always going to draw a big crowd wherever she goes, but the mob is certain to be a lot bigger when she puts more than just her pretty face on display. The girl’s been working out something fierce, and every toned muscle on her body was put to rigorous use in the Rayong show. A little shaken up by criticism of her “prominent crotch” in Bangkok, Janie’s now bristling with confidence, and so she should be with her skills and a body most women can only dream of having.
Of course it helps if you have a gym in your business portfolio, which she now has, though that’s only revived the seemingly inevitable questions about her seesaw love life. Reporters wanted to know whether businessman Chalermchai “Kueng” Mahagitsiri supplied the cash for the fitness centre, since he’s rumoured to be the man closest to her at the moment. “No,” Janie replied with muscular firmness. “I own the business with another partner, Top, who’s a stuntman with Broadcast Thai TV. Everything can be cross-checked!” Now calm down, Janie, we’ll take your word for it about this guy “Top”.
“As for Kueng, his role hasn’t changed – he’s my business adviser. I’m not a businesswoman, so it’s normal that I’d be seeking advice from him, but there’s no money involved.” Yes, they’re close, she allowed, but she’s too busy with work (and working out) for romance.
Okay, but, if you follow her on Instagram, you’ve seen the photos she occasionally posts of her with Kueng. For now at least, though, Janie’s sticking to the “no romance” line and says she doesn’t mind the rumours because any publicity is good publicity. She’s certainly getting plenty of promotion for her gym!

Meanwhile from Europe comes news that’s not what we were hoping for but still news to make Thailand proud. Anuthida “Baitong” Ploypetch, 17, was runner-up on the TV show “Germany’s Next Top Model”, edged out in the long-delayed final round on Thursday by a native-born teen named Vanessa.
Baitong’s brother, Techin Ploypetch, who also grew up in Germany but unlike his sister moved back to Thailand, had followed the weeks of competition and the viewers’ voting like a devoted sibling, sharing the updates on Facebook. When it was all over he thanked the Thai news media for tracking the story and declared to his sister, “Even though you didn’t become No 1, you’ll always be my No 1 sister.”
Techin thanked Baitong for “representing Thailand” on the show and helping him make his own dream come true – he’s the one who really wanted to enter the contest. “You’re my real Top Model, Anuthida!” he said.
That thanks-and-farewell post has been shared more than 52,000 times and drew hundreds of congratulatory comments, mostly expressing confidence that she’s still got a bright future ahead in modeling regardless of the outcome on TV. And we imagine Techin’s phone is ringing non-stop with offers from the Thai TV channels to have her on their shows.
For her part, Baitong proclaimed herself proud on Instagram, writing (in German), “To have come so far as an Asian woman is just amazing to me! It was a great time, and I am so grateful for your great support!”
