It is clear that, if not for the intervention of Suthep Thaugsuban and subsequently General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Thailand would have suffered the same fate as Greece.

Thailand’s debts would have increased to the point it would be borrowing from the IMF, becoming a virtual colony of the US under the “democratic” rule of Thaksin Shinawatra. Thailand would be praised by Human Rights Watch and US Secretary of State John Kerry and the rich would have gotten richer while the poor would have remained poor and uneducated.
