Mob rule and the cycle of corruption

Re: "What will Prayut be remembered for?", Letters, July 21.

Hopefully Prayut will be remembered for doing what his coup was meant to do, which is to rid Thai politics of corruption. It is true he has removed many government officials, but no politicians have been brought to book. Pheu Thai are threatening that the new Constitution referendum will be scuppered if anyone hands out justice to a Shinawatra family member. This is a good reason for not having a referendum and having mob rule prevail.
Corrupt ministers of 2000 and 2004 got away scot-free when the justice system failed in its duty. Thaksin should have been banned in 2001. It should not happen again.
