Reuters’ allegation of Thai authorities’ complicity was given more credence when Prayut’s crackdown led to the praiseworthy and unprecedented arrest of a lieutenant general and other officials for trafficking. 
Thus, the case against Phuketwan seems aimed at killing the messenger who has delivered an unwanted truth. Prayut should back up his actions against trafficking by ordering that the Navy drop its suit immediately and file a friend-of-the-court brief pointing out the debt that Thailand owes to Phuketwan.
