Blaming NGOs just distracts from the issue

Blaming NGOs just distracts from the issue

Re: "Why so many NGOs saying what to do?", Letters August 10.

John Kane’s letter on why non-governmental organisations are so prolific in Thailand is a sad interpretation of the issue. He writes that NGOs that expose trafficking are “well-known for gross exaggeration and sensationalism”. The same words could easily be applied to his own logic. If John’s wife and daughters were taken from him and sold like sacks of rice, would he write such a letter? It’s typical of someone who appears to have little understanding of the depth of the problem and even less compassion over the buying and selling of human beings by criminals.
