Refugees, not migrants

JC Wilcox, in his recent letters, seems to be confused about the difference between migrants and refugees.

The thousands of people arriving by boat in Greece and Italy and by land over the past few days in Austria and Germany are seeking refuge from war and brutality. They are not migrants, by any stretch of the imagination. We all have a duty to take in these people irrespective of the burden on the nation. His Holiness Pope Francis spoke once again about this obligation in his most recent Sunday sermon to the faithful gathered in Saint Peter’s Square in Rome. Mr Wilcox would do well to heed his words.
