The US needs a tough leader this time round

Re: "President Trump: Words that should freeze the blood" Letters, November 20.

The heading is rather ridiculous hyperbole. If anything, Trump’s words should raise the blood temperature of both those for and against his style.
Trump is exactly what the USA and the western world needs right now: he is a much needed antidote to political
correctness, PC. PC is in total abrogation of the First Amendment. It negates freedom of expression and prevents criticism of a religion that claims to be peaceful but is proving to be dangerous.
Only feeble liberal PC submissives would not identify with his positive leadership. He has a tangible track record as an achiever, hence “I will just do it”. There’s a very successful company with that slogan, “Just Do It”.
America desperately needs strong forceful leadership, as does Europe, which is also in self-destruct mode.  Aggression must be confronted and repelled firmly. The democratic, Judeo-Christian culture we treasure must be defended and fought for from a position of strength. The West must regain respect by taking a tough line, not from a position of weakness.
Trump may be a tough, uncompromising, egotistical, outspoken bully, but such qualities are currently needed in this world of aggression and unrest.
Egon’s line, “The quicker Trump is ousted from this contest, the better for America and the world”, is negative; he does not suggest an alternative. Who else is there Egon with a track record of achievement in the real world?  Yes,, it would be better for Xi and Putin. They would have some weak compromising president to face for whom they would have no respect: rather like the current situation. But for sure it would not be better for America or the West.
The world has a surfeit of academics at the expense of pragmatism.
