Varatchaya Joins Tammy as Thailand's Second WTA Winner

Varatchaya Wongteanchai became the second Thai after Tamarine Tanasugarn to win a WTA level title after she and Chinese Yang Zhaoxuan upset top seed Chen Liang and Wang Yafan of China 4-6 6-4 10-7 in the doubles final of the US$250,000 BMW Malaysian Open

Varatchaya now joined Tamarine as a WTA winner from Thailand. The Thai veteran Tamarine has won a total four WTA singles title and eight doubles titles. Tamarine won her first with Japanese Nana Miyagi in the ASB Classic in Auckland 1998.
 
 
“I was so excited in the last two games. Luckily the other team committed two double faults in the last two points,” said  the 26-year-old Varatchaya .
 
“My whole body was shaking after we won. My partner and I want to win more and we hope to play in a Grand Slam one day,” said Varatchaya.
