Traffic police are part of the problem, not the solution

Traffic police are part of the problem, not the solution

Motorbikes lined up in Samut Songkran as far as the eye can see because they are banned from using the public bridge to go into Bangkok shows how out of touch the traffic police are.

Thailand has one of the highest accident rates in the world and also some of the worst traffic. As such, it is unbelievable that police would have time to harass the only fast means of transport. When they aren’t doing that, they turn off the computerised traffic lights and run them on manual, causing unnecessary traffic build-ups.
Let computers run the lights. Let motorbikes use the road. Use cameras to photograph real violations, like speeding, talking on the phone and windows tinted so black you can’t see through them. Other countries don’t let traffic police do this. Ask yourself why.
