Bikers strike back at ‘roads for the rich’

Bikers strike back at ‘roads for the rich’

Re: “Motorcyclists go to court to fight flyover ban”, Front page, April 26.

Good for them. The traffic police create more traffic than they help. Motorbikes are faster than cars in Bangkok, which is why motorbike-taxis drivers – who enjoy police protection – charge a premium. Flyovers and fly-unders are public structures designed to reduce traffic. Forcing bikes to use the slow lane also creates a danger as riders weave side to side to avoid stopped buses and traffic turning into the road. This is just a cash-grab for the police to exploit the poorest on the road. Meanwhile a Ferrari driver can kill a cop and nothing happens. Karl Stanford
